Why choose a certified experienced professional?

After studying interior design, I joined J.C. Penney's Custom Decorating Department in 1976. I found my niche! I thoroughly enjoyed independently working with clients on the road selling and designing custom window treatments. That enthusiasm and desire lifted my sales to the pinnacle position of becoming the top decorator in the United States Eastern Region (representing 163 decorators from 9 states). In 1986, I left Penney's to offer my customers a more competitively priced product, more extensive selection, more expedient completion time, and the finest team of people to support me. Most interior designers specialize in different areas, and I realized I needed to become an expert if I was to specialize

I am certified and a member of the following:

  • WFCP - Window Fashions Certified Professional
Qualification comes through study, attendance at seminar programs, design projects, and examination.
  • Member of WCAA (Window Coverings Association of America)
National Organization of window covering professionals. Members meet on a regular basis to update their skills and knowledge of window covering products and designs. They subscribe to a strong code of ethics.

"For the 11th consecutive year, Hunter Douglas led all window covering companies in the annual industry awards competition sponsored by the Window Coverings Manufacturers Association, capturing 20 out of 34 total awards for the best new products and programs."

  • Hunter Douglas Window Fashions Institute
Seminars and online new product testing to earn different levels of product expertise.

We will guide every client in the designing and selection process

"We will help you find the best value, make the best decisions, work within your budget, and give you unique suggestions and designs you never knew were available. We take full responsibility for measurements, installation and service after the sale for the life of the product."

What are your priorities?

Using the list below please number 1 through 9, with 1 being your highest priority

Ask yourself 12 questions, before getting started.

  • Do I want this window treatment to be functional, decorative, or both

  • How much light do I want and does the window need to be totally cleared?

  • Is UVA protection and fading of carpet and furnishings a consideration?

  • How much privacy do I want?

  • How does heat and cold affect the home? Is insulation a priority?

  • How important is ease of care and maintenance?

  • Do I want the room to be simple or dramatic, subtle or bold, embellished or tailored?

  • Do I want a new design theme, or keep what I have?

  • What are my color preferences? Do I prefer solids or prints?

  • How long will I be in this home?

  • What is my budget?

  • Is there a deadline that is required to complete installation?

How to be prepared for consultation

  • Be prepared to express your desires. The treatments should reflect YOU and not the designer
  • Discuss your budget, if you have one, early in the discussion

  • If it is a home under construction, bring swatches of those items that must be matched — carpet, wallpaper, upholstery, bedspreads, paint chips, photos and sizes of furniture

  • Plan ahead — Blinds take 3 to 5 weeks, Draperies take 8 to 10 weeks

  • Consider submitting on our website …Designing Window Survey"and Functional Window Survey, so we will be more prepared before our consultation.

It's true - you get what you pay for

In the shade and blind market each manufacturer offers several different grades. Be sure that you are getting a quote on the same exact product and quality. Ready made components are inferior to the custom line. Custom treatments are designed to give you trouble free smooth operation, and last many more years. If you have a problem, ready mades need to be thrown away, where as the custom product can be repaired by your dealer. There are many differences in skill and experience from drapery workrooms as well. Fullness, material quality, tool quality, and finishing details all affect the final result. I work with six workrooms. All have different strengths, and I assign work based on the strongest match to their skill and experience for my client's design.

There is no risk to you when I take full responsibility for measuring, planning, designing, selection, installation, and service in the future. If you take on these responsibilities, you may not know all your choices, how to properly measure and install, and just as important, choosing the right color and application based on scale, balance, proportion and harmony to other elements in the room. Will you be happy and confident with the results? We guarantee your satisfaction.

Major brands carry more substantial warranties and license only qualified fabricators, who are required to have the highest quality control. Keep in mind the warranty is only as good as the longevity of the business and we have been in business since 1986.Gail Corsette
